The hub of all activity is in Place Jemaa el - Fna where the snake charmers annoy you and the guys with their monkeys want to place them on you and everyone wants money. Then there are souks (markets) for absolute miles dealing in leather, shoes , bags, carpets, wool, wood inlay furniture and ornate metal lamps by the thousands.
The emblem of the city is the Koutoubia Mosque which is at the one end of the medina and if you're not a Muslim you cant go inside.
The craftsmanship at the Saadian Tombs is absolutely incredible and have been around for two centuries which was well worth a visit. The people are very welcoming but there are a few that will take you and they all want money, no matter what. The men hang with each other, don't know where the women are ? At the coffee shops they all sit together facing the street sipping their small coffee for ages , no women are present. Nobody drinks alcohol here, just mint tea and good coffee.
